Do I need my own API key? What is it?
Yes, for the studio (the free demo needs none). An API key is your own pay-as-you-go account with an AI company: you create it on OpenRouter or OpenAI, paste it into AI eBook Suite, and the provider bills you directly for what you use. Our step-by-step guide walks you through it.
How much will the AI usage cost?
It depends on the model and on the length of the book. As a rough guide, a 10-chapter book of about 20,000 words costs a few cents with a budget model, about $0.40 with Gemini 3.8 Flash and about $1.70 with Claude Sonnet 5.5; top-tier models and longer books cost more. The cost table on this page gives estimates for each model and book length. You can set a spending limit in your provider account.
Why not just use ChatGPT?
You can, and you'd use the same kind of models. The difference is the method: we plan the whole book first, give every chapter the plan and the chapters before it, and hand you finished EPUB, DOCX, PDF and HTML files. In a chat, the planning, the pasting and the formatting are up to you.
Can I publish the text as it is?
Read and edit it first: AI can make mistakes or repeat itself, and Amazon asks you to disclose AI-generated content. The sample books on this page are unedited, so you can judge the starting point yourself.
Who owns the books I create?
You do. Under our Terms you keep the rights you have in the content generated for you and you may use it commercially, for example to sell it. Always review and edit AI-generated text before you publish it.
Can I publish on Amazon KDP?
Yes. The EPUB export can be uploaded to Kindle Direct Publishing. Amazon asks you to disclose AI-generated content and applies its own content rules; our free KDP guide explains each step.
Does it create the cover?
No. AI eBook Suite writes and formats the text; you add your own cover, for example with Amazon KDP's Cover Creator. The covers on this page are illustrations made for the site.
Is there a free trial? Can I cancel?
There is no free trial: use the free demo to judge the writing first. The subscription is monthly and you can cancel at any time from Manage Subscription; access continues until the end of the period you paid for. If you live in the EU you can also withdraw within 14 days of subscribing and get back the part of the fee for the days not used; otherwise fees already paid are not refunded, as set out in our Terms.
What happens if a generation stops halfway?
You can resume it: the chapters already written are kept and the engine continues from where it stopped. You can also reuse any brief to start a new version with Recreate.
Which AI models can I use?
Any chat model your key can access: OpenAI models with an OpenAI key, or hundreds of models from many AI labs with an OpenRouter key. The list is read live from the provider. Long-context models work best for long books.
How does it keep a long book consistent?
It plans the whole book first, then writes each chapter with the plan and the previous chapters in context. The latest chapters are included word for word, up to about half of the model's context window (64,000 tokens with an OpenAI key, at most 200,000 with OpenRouter); in a longer book, the oldest chapters are represented by their summaries from the plan.
